Ok, I must talk through this taboo of red carpet and shoes. First thing I need to put under your sight is this photo: Lana Del Rey, absolutely stunning, killing it in Berlin, looking like a goddess/botticelli butterfly however you want to call it, wearing flats. Yes you read it, flats. The point is she looks amazing. Definitely more elegant than so many red carpet looks I’ve seen lately. Actually we shall admit, the flatter the smarter your shoes. High heels probably give you the impression of being slimmer and taller and a bit higher in the sky, but who would actually wear them on the red carpet, during an event that will last long hours, and during which you’ll have to check your makeup-hair-dress-facial expressions the whole time while your feet terribly hurt? Noone. So, obviously girls that are not naturally very tall like me would always go in the end for heels because they’ll feel a bit special (=a little taller than usual), but in an ideal world, where everyone is the same height, and everyone could look good in every dress neverminding pedant fashion police judgements, I’d say a big fat YES, to flats.

Style Details: the eclectic jewellery and lose hair give the look a more contemporary feel.

This is a moment I was always waiting for when I was little.. Waking up and turning on the tv to find the news where they showed the winners of the Oscar and all the stars walking on the red carpet in their dream gowns.. Now I’m with my Ipad selecting my picks of Best Dressed for this 2012 edition, times have changed (I thought I’d never said something like this before my 30s!).. Enjoy the Oscars’ 2012 wonders!

Gwyneth Paltrow amazing as always in Tom Ford – I think She even beated her pink legendary dress that She was wearing when winning the Award for Shakespeare in Love! The Tom Ford Fall 2012 collection was kept really secret, and seeing this dress on this very special occasion makes the surprise definitely worth it!

Rooney Mara in Givenchy – this girl showed immediately from the premieres of Millenium to be a heavy weight on red carpets!

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton: a very talented actress that is in the spotlight for her good taste in fashion and film roles. I love that She always dares a little bit, looking always perfect! After showing everyone She could rock the red carpet in an H&M dress, now She’s demonstrating fluoro colors can be oh so charming for formal occasions.

Natalie Portman in Vintage Dior: there must be always a beautiful vintage gown at every edition of the Academy Awards, and Natalie definitely chose the right thing!

Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli: ton sur tones can look really elegant, and like Michelle Williams’ blonde-on-yellow Vera Wang choice of 2006, Emma rocks a ginger-on-red match

Last but not least, the “Iron Ladies” Meryl Streep (in Lanvin) and Glenn Close (in Zac Posen) looked stunning, proof of the theory that real beauty has no age!
