Inspiration Pretty Lady. If you thought it was just a trend brought up just by Lana Del Rey, you were wrong. Look at this amazing shot featuring Cara Delevingne with big 60s inspired hair, a shocking pink bon chic coat, strolling around Columbia Road in London and with a whole story in her eyes.
We love it. Do you?
Ispirazione Pretty Lady.
In case you didn’t know it, Band of Outsiders apart from having a very cool name has a very nice esthetic: if you take a look to their site, you will find many polaroids portraying interesting subjects like celebrities in everyday life situations wearing their clothes. Not only Band of Outsiders have this fine look for fashion photography but they also find the right faces to catch their mood: their Spring 2012 testimonial is the fashion (and this blog’s as well since we love her style and attitude) darling Michelle Williams, portrayed in the Los Angeles Cemetery. The atmosphere is that of mellow colours of nice weather fading away, leaving space in the rarefact light of polaroids for memories and mind-wandering. The clothes follow the faded tones of light blue and white, with hints of black like the straw hat in a Buster Keaton’s style, that looks like the medium that put Michelle in contact with a parallel surrealist world spreading with spring’s blooms.

Both graceful and charming animals, light and nonchalant of gravity, they can be found this spring not only in the lovely weather, but also as prints on dresses and accessories.
Below, photos I took today of my bird ring in white and yellow gold: it has been made from the shape of a cheap ring I really liked and that got all ruined. My parents found a jeweller that could redo the same ring in gold.. If you wonder why they cared this much to do so, it’s because they call me “little bird”.
After reading this, you’ll also understand that Dolce & Gabbana can read yours and every woman’s mind. So, do we really need to write down some of the reasons that made the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2012 one of the best fashion shows we’ve seen lately? Ok, here are just 10:
-Bracelets, earrings and bags enriched with lucky horns, pasta and vegetables: what’s better than fun accessories to play with?
-Veggie prints: Last SS was all Bananas, Oranges and Watermelons. Now it’s time for peppers, tomatoes, onions, zucchini (/courgettes 😉 ) and eggplants (../aubergines 😉 ) on fantastic chiffon floaty dresses, or cool mini+girly pieces. Vegetables are so beautiful on this fabrics they kind of go beyond their status of veggies to that of beautiful flowery forms printed on fabrics, thanks to the creativity of Domenico and Stefano
-Flowers in your hair: as in the best swedish tradition, we never have enough of this in summer
– Sexy: these two designers have the amazing gift of making everything sexy, feminine, wow. Using any kind of fabric, shape, pattern. Take a look at the long earrings, big coquettish bows on the hips, bra-shaped tops, see-through chiffon, corset inspiration
-Bon Ton: Dolce & Gabbana understand also that a woman can’t just wear sexy floating chiffon dresses all the time, so they also create jackets and over the knee long skirts, but they make them as girly and beautiful as all their other pieces: in precious fabrics and lace, enriched with big flowers and rhinestone
– Dolce & Gabbana understand so well women that they know that at this point of their fashion show some of them could say “What if I love these veggie prints, and the lace too, and I kind of dream of wearing them both at the same time?!”. So, there you go: the fusion of the two. Yes, They can read your mind.
– White: sometimes white can be boring. But also super fantastic, with sparkles, lace, see through and with a vintage feel. See below.
-Black: They always nailed it, you know that.
-Plastic Fantastic: I told you, they can turn everything into something super feminine, and pushing it forward in the future with a vintage feel, like they did here matching 60s plastic and crochet details
– Women love to dare: that’s why there should be always pieces like these chandelier ones. The ensamble of all the models from the fashion show show walking together in this contemporary Moulin Rouge style is simply brilliant and gave to the show such a strong theatrical impact
Conclusion: Yes, as you could read and see from this post, Dolce & Gabbana can read your mind, but in the best super heroes tradition, they do it with the awesome goal of making women feel beautiful and more confident.
